11/17/2025 In business, there are verticle acquisitions and there are horizontal mergers. There are friendly deals and there are hostile take overs. In the 1970s, Donald Trump had a friendly relationship with the Pritzker family, who controlled the Hyatt hotel chain. Trump purchased the Commodore Hotel, and it was devolped into the Grand Hyatt. Over the years, Trump’s relationship with the Pritzker family soured because of financial disputes, and by the mid 90s, Trump got rid of his stake in Hyatt. It was a good relationship gone bad. In between A and B, in the mid 80s, Trump tried a HOSTILE take over of Holiday Inn. He tried to purchase enough shares to control the company. There’s a defense in hostile take overs called shark repellant. This involves staggered boards, golden parachuttes, white knights, and macaroni defense. In Art of the Deal, Trump explained that Holiday Inn used a “poison pill” by diluting stock value, restructuring financial mechanisms, and changing voting rules. Because of the Holiday Inn poison pill, Trump’s hostile take over was a failure. Holiday Inn wound up selling to a British brewing company called Bass PLC. The point is that Donald Trump does not deal in good faith, and that’s his full record. The Hyatt relationship turned sour, and the Holiday Inn situation was never good to begin with. His Atlantic City casinos wound up going bankrupt, as a side issue. We hear about career politicians not doing good jobs in Washington, DC. Donald Trump fed on this sentiment when he ran for president. Ttump is a career businessman, though, and not a good one. When acting in good faith, it’s ordinary for a businessman to sue someone else believing the facts are on his side. A tycoon acting in bad faith, though, doesn’t care if he’s correct or not. He sues to suppress the Little Guy knowing full well he has way more money to spend. Even if the victim of a psychopathic businessman has the money, it’s often not worth the hassle. We’ve seen law firms, universities, and media outlets cave in to Trump. ABC and CBS weren’t wrong in their reporting! They were wrong for caving in, though. We all hope the BBC has better luck. Nobody should ever have to issue an apology for their journalism, especially to a piece of trash like the Orange Clown. American voters successfully avoided their dread nightmare of not electing a career politician, but what they got instead was way worse. Trump is a rotten career businessman who does not try to win by chivalry. He does not play by honest rules. He always tries to use insane loopholes, and obscure contengencies. While others are boxing each other, to use a fight metaphor, Donald Trump brought MMA tactics into the ring. And he expects everyone else to keep their boxing gloves on! And when Trump starts to lose, he fights very dirty! He will gouge eyes, bite kneecaps, and rabbit punch behind the head! He wants to be viewed as a champion, but it’s impossible. Donald Trump has seemingly changed his tune about the Epstein Files. Yesterday, he said to release them, but once again, it’s done in bad faith. The president is not supposed to direct the AG which cases to pursue, but the Orange Clown is different! He directed Pam Bondi to hound Bill Clinton and other Democrats.
