Hello Maniacs! It is me, Homer Cocktail. Demented is taking a break. Pretty sure he’s going to lay low through the Christmas holidays. The election season was intense, and it was exhausting. He put a lot of effort and work into this Never Trump Blog. I’m glad he’s taking a break.
Someone has to man the fort though, right? That would be me! We all neglected Maniac-Nebula.com for a few months and just let things be. A few days ago, I went ahead and cleaned up the first couple of pages. There was a lot of election stuff. I put those things in a new archive. I feel good. We’re going to continue along with the blogs here until it makes no sense to keep doing so. As long as people are out there saying “NEVER TRUMP!!”, we will stay vigil. I want to let you know something, though. We don’t need to focus on politics the whole time. That’s why I’m back. Let’s think about successful NFL players and coaches. They have their training camps, pre-seasons, regular seasons, playoffs, then Super Bowls (if they’re lucky). There’s a saying in athletics, “Leave it all on the field.” If you focus, train, and don’t compromise, you can be a champion. But guess what? Even if you win a Super Bowl, a few weeks later there’s a good chance that you might find yourself in the middle of nowhere on some isolated lake fishing alone, away from the madness of crowds, with only trees and wildlife around you.
We’re at that point, here. People are tired of the politics. Never Trump Blog “left it on the field” as best as we could. The season is over. It’s time for fishing on that isolated lake. Of course, some people never rest. Some people don’t sleep. It’s like a machine. A lot of people are remaining vigil, and they’re making sure that important issues aren’t swept under the rug. I’m not sure what this December blog will bring. On a personal note, I have lost the urgency to express myself on a regular basis. The election is done. The garbage will be picked up in the morning. When people think the world is ending, they always wonder if the garbage will be picked up! I don’t know why. Sure, World War III can break out. Russia, Ukraine, Israel, and the rest of the Middle East have uncertain futures. At some point, most of us ought to go back to normal lives.
There’s a Def Leppard lyric that has stuck with me over the years:
“Welcome home soldier boy
Put down your pistol, yeah, put down your toy
Yeah, they can take the gun away from you
But never take away your attitude
They can’t do that, oh no no no, they can’t do that
You got no enemy, no front line
The only battle’s in the back of your mind
You don’t know how to change from bad to good
You brought the war to your neighborhood
You can’t do that, oh no no, you can’t do that…”
— Die Hard the Hunter
The line I want to emphasize is, “You brought the war into your neighborhood.” Serving your country in the military is honorable, especially if there’s a “just war” in the process. I’ve lived long enough to stop trusting the process. The government will always pretend they’re fighting for some humanitarian cause, then years later you find out it’s for economics and resource control. It seemed that people used to serve their country abroad, but they didn’t continue their war domestically. I’m going to try to let things be. It seems that we’ve been in a cultural civil war for many years, now, but I’m going to try my best to let this “election thing” fade. Another moderator might come along and post political updates, and that’s their choice. I might do it myself, especially if I find humor in the situation. Christmas is coming up, though. Why do we have to allow politics to be a 365-day-a-year situation?
There’s a massive exodus of people leaving X/ Twitter. I guess you can say they’re making X their ex! Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha! I didn’t know I was going to make that cheesy joke, but I did! Anyhow, I joined Blue Sky a few days ago! I’m quite happy! That’s where everyone is going that believed X was beyond saving. I’ve had some very, very positive experiences in the few short days I’ve been there. It prompted me to release an autobiography! This thing has been finished for a year, and distributed to a handful of family and friends, but it’s never been made available to the general public. As of yesterday, it can be viewed and bought at a self-publishing site, Lulu.com .
I wish you the best this holiday season! For those of you staying vigil, keep doing so! There’s a lot of people whose job and passion it is to cover politics. Many of us are run down, though. There’s nothing wrong with turning away from MSNBC, Fox News, and the rest. Do it for a few hours! Do it for a few days! Heck! Do it until a few weeks before the next election in 2028! Take a rest, and be good to yourself.
